Our production of Vacate is just one month away. And in anticipation of that, we’d like to introduce members of our production team. We did not have a formal team for our last production, so we are thrilled to have this new group of professionals join us!

On February 21st we will be putting on the play, @vacate_play, that was written by our Executive Director, @hannah.peterson90 and is directed by our team member @emilykcollins_. What a way to kick off our production company! We had our first event, the Wonderlust Storytelling Competition, this last Saturday night and it was nothing short of magic. We heard from audience members and participants who described it as “energizing”, “nourishing”, “connective” and “intentional”. And that is exactly the feelings we want all Wonder productions to embody.

We are thrilled to announce our second judge for Wonderlust, Pam Bailey! She is a freelance writer and social-justice activist. who lived and worked in the Gaza Strip immediately following the 2008/9 Israeli assault. She founded More Than Our Crimes, a nonprofit initiative focused on assuring second chances for individuals convicted of violent crimes in the United States. Pam is also the co-author of the recently released book, We Are Not Numbers, a collection of essays about children in Gaza.

We are so grateful to have Pam join our event. We are sure she will offer a great perspective to assessing the showcased stories!

We are leading our first “Storytelling for Changemakers” workshop tomorrow with students from the @georgetownghd program. We’ll be teaching theater techniques for professionals, how to create empathy with diverse populations and how to create stories from their experiences in international development that context with people.

We have partnered with the Lab for Global Performance and Politics to implement their In Your Shoes model that is a methodology that uses performance to build empathy.

We’ll be sure to update you on how it goes!
